  18. Three questions about PCMCIA card modems and Win-95, running MS-DOS
  19. Kermit or Kermit-95 - TIA for any suggestions.

  21. When we run MS-DOS Kermit in a DOS-box under Win-95, we can do
  22. SET COM3 \x3f8 10
  23. SET PORT COM3
  24. to set the IRQ and memory address for the PCMCIA card modem.
  25. The SET COMn command apparently is not used in Kermit 95,
  26. and I didn't see mention of IRQ or address in the K-95 manual.  Is the
  27. only way to make these settings through Control Panel/System/Device
  28. Manager, and if so, why is it necessary to make the setttings again in
  29. MS-DOS Kermit?

  31. Is this related to the advice we've already received (I think this
  32. came from the Columbia Kermit WWW site), that to mark our PCMCIA card
  33. work with Kermit-95, we must first use HyperTerminal to make a
  34. connection to the port. (We start HyperTerminal, make a connection to
  35. the port, begin dialing, cancel the dialing, exit HyperTerminal, and
  36. now Kermit-95 will work).

  38. That same trick does not work to make MS-DOS Kermit able to use the
  39. PCMCIA modem.  Is there a FAQ list for PC-MCIA modems, or for
  40. MS-DOS Kermit under Windows 95?  In particular, I've had trouble with
  41. several models of IBM Thinkpads (in some cases using a card modem
  42. known to work on another notebook PC with the same MS-DOS Kermit TAKE
  43. files)
